Viennese & Expressionism Posters and Prints
ExpressionismExpressionism concentrated in Germany from 1905 to 1930. Expressionists would develop pictorial forms expressing their feelings rather than representing the world as it is. This is an intense, passionate and personal art form based on the artist’s use of a canvas to express emotions. A typical expressionist painting uses unreal colour and dramatic brush strokes. Vincent van Gogh’s frenzied painting and extraordinary use of colour became the inspiration for many Expressionist painters. Some Expressionist artists include Beckman, van Gogh, Heckel, Jawlensky, Kirchner, Kokoschka, Marc, Munch, Nolde, Pechstein, Rouault and Schiele. |
