Award winning artist Phyllis Araneo lives on the coast in Queensland, Australia. Originally from New Jersey, U.S.A. she trained at the Glassboro State Collage, New Jersey and then the School of Visual Arts, New York City where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Araneo has exhibited in 32 exhibitions including 12 major solo shows in North America. Her commission work is extensive and she has spent the past twelve years painting portraits commissioned by the music industry in Manhattan for magazines such as Forbes, Rolling Stone, Hits, The Album Network, Yank and BMG Music Distribution where more than 100 of her paintings are displayed in their New York and Los Angeles offices. In 1992 she was selected by the New Jersey State Democratic Party to paint the portraits of the (then) candidates Bill Clinton and Al Gore, which still hang in the Headquarter offices. Araneo's corporate and private commission list includes RCA Records, Arista Records, Trump Entertainment for Trump Castle, Herb Albert and Richard Branson. Whilst maintaining her commissions for the American music industry, Araneo has been captivated by the Striking Australian light and colour, and the luscious plant and floral life which abound. She has spent the past two years embracing her new environment and expanding her work to include this genre. This series of prints reflects the life studies she has made incorporating tropical flowers into exotic contemporary imagery.
