About this artwork
American graphic artist, Howard Miller, was appointed by the Westinghouse Company in 1942 to create a series of posters for the war effort. The most famous of these posters is "We Can Do It!" which would be called "Rosie the Riveter" years later. Rosie represents American woman who worked the US factories during World War II. This medium size Rosie the Riveter poster was adopted in the 1980’s as a symbol of feminism.
